Ever since I was young, I would associate music with lots of colours, and thought that well… Everybody did the same too. Turns out, that’s not really the case. As a passing thought, I decided to ask some of my friends if they’d ever had that experience. Most of them said no. The best way I could describe what I meant was feeling and seeing tangible colours together when music came on.

It’s been a whole month since I’ve been here blogging on this site. It’s been a whole month since I’ve posted on mellowpaints, and it’s been a long month. Have I forgotten about this passion of mine? Well, definitely not. It’s been on my mind and heart all day all the time.

Haven’t updated this blog in a while, because I haven’t had the push to write much lately. Anyway, 2018 has been a year of finding my own voice in my artwork. At the very beginning of this year, I was doing traditional paintings exclusively. I worked with a lot of acrylics and brushes.

Give and take, it probably wasn’t my best work. I was shifting further away from Impressionism. What next? I knew I wasn’t much of a realist, nor someone who did portraits, so I decided to stick to some strange in-between. Traditional painting was a whole ballpark to navigate itself. Sometimes, I felt tied down to a canvas and I was unsure, albeit my confidence in art did grow.

Ruth Taveras is the artist of December – her work features a rich array of flowers, gardens and anything nature inspired. With Impressionism as her art style, you can observe the movements of her brush strokes in all her pieces.

Living in bustling New York, Ruth finds refuge from the city in the New York Botanical Garden. The garden is a world away from the Big Apple, allowing the artist to feel as though she’s on an exotic vacation! She was driven to paint her happy place to share her memories and experiences with the world.

One of my favourite scenic views, or something I like to envision in my mind is the sea, especially when it’s serene. Calm tides and gentle clouds complement each other. While everything is vast, the boat flows and ebbs with the waves, always trusting that the sea knows where it’s going to bring it.

Hope you enjoyed a little backstory 🙂 You can always view my latest works on Instagram

I haven’t been honest with my art recently. Or I suppose I haven’t created what I intended to create.

I have this tendency of turning passion into tasks, and likewise the tasks turn into a routine. There isn’t anything bad in coming up with a routine to aid your creative mind, in fact it’s actually a good thing to be consistent. Problem is, I was focused too much on the routine aspect, rather than the creation aspect.
