Ever since I was young, I would associate music with lots of colours, and thought that well… Everybody did the same too. Turns out, that’s not really the case. As a passing thought, I decided to ask some of my friends if they’d ever had that experience. Most of them said no. The best way I could describe what I meant was feeling and seeing tangible colours together when music came on.
I had heard of Synesthesia when I was younger and did some research on it. Funnily enough, I matched most of the ‘symptoms’ of the condition. Pretty cool. I also decided to experiment listening to music and do some digital sketches.
Here’s the outcome of a few:
(What I think) I experience is associative synesthesia, where I see colours in my ‘mind’s eye’. They don’t float around me physically, but mentally I can perceive a vibrant array of colours that creates a very interesting visual piece I suppose. Borderline abstract.
Here’s to more experimenting with Synesthesia, and I think it could possibly be a very new art form. Also, I’ve missed mellowpaints so much, and it feels awesome to be able to create art again.
